Pre-Plan

Pre-Arrangements

There is plenty to say about planning ahead and you’ve heard plenty about it over the years. Preplanning and particularly prepaid funerals have been the most promoted and perhaps the most talked about issue in funeral service in recent years. Sometimes for good reasons and sometimes not.

You may be considering planning ahead, or you may already have done so. ALL preplanned AND prepaid funeral arrangements are transferrable from one funeral home provider to another. It’s the law, period. Many are refundable, ALL are transferrable. There are some specifics to address but it is our job to know these things and we’ll be happy to help you.

Preplanning is always a good idea. Preplanning simply refers to having a discussion with us, getting answers to your questions and having us record your wishes in our files. This makes good sense and the information is always available in the event it is needed.

Prepaid funeral arrangements, though never a bad idea, sometimes become particularly helpful and are almost a necessity in some cases. Prepaid funerals can be guaranteed when paid to avoid any unexpected additional charges later, as funeral home prices increase. The interest, or earnings on the escrowed funds pay our increases as time passes.

Prepaid funeral arrangements can be made irrevocable too, a necessity when medicaid assistance application is necessary. Here again, we have experience in this area and can help.

All prepaid funeral funds must be escrowed with a third party or used to purchase a burial or funeral insurance policy. Prepaid funeral funds paid to any Michigan funeral home cannot be kept for use by the funeral home until such time the services are actually performed. We are always available to answer your questions, and we welcome them. Always feel free to call the funeral home for help.
